Begin De-Programming Bias Through Movement and Sound - New York

unnamed-2 - Rebecca KellyG.jpg

This workshop will support participants in integrating our shadow sides on the road to de-programming oppressive internalized social norms and serving the collective with integrity. Self-care is a vital tool for genuine collective action, and while it is often presented as exclusively a pleasant and affirming experience, it also requires personal accountability and confronting difficult truths. It is the Moon card before we reach the Sun. We will use our voice and bodies to begin releasing toxic behaviors that keep us separate from our deepest selves and one another.

Rebecca Kelly G is a racial justice facilitator and artist working with communities to see/heal internalized oppression and shift culture toward equity. Her practice centers on moving participants to begin compassionately holding their own pain and discomfort in order to cultivate self-love, meaningful connection, and community justice. Rebecca uses methods acquired through her own process integrating emotional pain as well as her work as a civil rights attorney, educator, and interdisciplinary artist. Rebecca has been featured in Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Black Girl Magik, and Elia Alba's The Supper Club.
